Commonweath Games Lite: a bid revival
Cats: odd things|Given all the buzz around reviving 2014 Commonwealth Games bid, The Gifted Typist has come up with a proposal that would allow Halifax to host the games ANDĀ satisfy budget constraints.
Highlights include:
- develop Athlete’s Village on Halifax Commons using second-hand tents from Ron’s Army/Navy and plenty of tarpaulin to protect grass.
- dig moat around Athlete’s Villages to serve dual purpose of bathroom facilities and keeping non-athletes off village grounds
- hold swimming events in Halifax Harbour (close to Athlete’s Village meaning further cost savings on transportation.)
- Diving events to be conducted from the MacDonald Bridge (taking care to plan events around comings and goings of container ships)
- Track and field events to take place on roads circumnavigating Commons/Althlete’s Village (note: number of track events to be reducedĀ during busy commuting times when athletes are asked to watch out for cars especially those with drivers talking on cells.)
- cycling events to be held at Point Pleasant Park (off-leash dogs are asked to step aside for speeding cyclists)
- Food and drink supplied by Tim Hortons or, if athletes like, they can receive cooked breakfasts and late night donairs at Scott Logan’s house.
- Athlete’s entertainment to include nightly campfires and sing-songs, fiddling and step dancing with Premier Rodney, public waffling displays by Mayor Kelly and back-stabbing demonstrations by Nova Scotia MP Peter MacKay.
The final cost for these games is $556.17,* well within the budget.
*costs have been studied and verified by independent financial audit.

Excellent. But there is one inaccuracy – Scott Logan refused to disclose what would be severe for breakfast in order to avoid giving any other bidders a competitive advantage.

Our Bid-Lite Committee had a lot of trouble with this issue, but in the end we decided that it was the committee’s money, but the tax payer’s money and they had a right to know how much would be spent on hot breaky at S. Logan’s house.
