The saga of Canada’s Paris Hilton of motherhood Mommy Blogger suing the maker of the movie Knocked Up is itself worthy of a movie, or a soap opera.

The Mommy Blogger wrote a chicklit book called Knocked Up: Confessions of a Hip Mother To Be about a media chick who gets knocked up after a party. Mommy Blogger says the Apatow film used her ideas and visuals without giving her credit.

The suit has launched an avalanche of speculation on her chances of success (slim to none according to an entertainment lawyer interviewed on CBC) and her motives (more interviews, more publicity, more books sold.)

Bloggers are feasting on Mommy Blogger whose literary and journalistic credentials aren’t exactly – how shall we shall put it? – sterling.

Reject the Koolaid has compiled a list of books that used the image of a martini glass and pacifier long before Mommy Blogger used it for her book. Apatow’s film uses this visual and this is cited in the suit.

And NineGramBrain is a hilarious parody of Mommy Blogger’s own blog Nine Pound Dictator. You get the distinct impression that the parody is penned by an insider from the Globe who knows Mommy Blogger’s work well – which makes it all the funnier.

All good fun, unless you’re a big fan of Mommy Blogger.
