Vignettes of June in Nova Scotia
Cats: Canada, culture|Cold, glum, drizzle. Single-digit temperatures.
Sweaters, layers, heat turned on, numb fingers on keyboard.
Periods of drizzle. Periods of showers. Black clouds on the Environment Canada website.
Lackluster flowers craving sunshine. Even the fake flowers look lackluster.
Damp barbecue stuck under plastic cover. Who wants to barbecue in the drizzle?
Grey sky, grey roads, grey faces trudging along grey sidewalks.
Fog rolling in at night.
Cozy reading book under duvet.
In June. In Nova Scotia.

We hardly get enough rain here. That kind of weather is considered to be highly desirable in this part of the world. Drought and forest fires are the alternative.
We just got some rain…yay…my lawn was starting to die, and watering plants was becoming a full time occupation.

At least your weather seems constant we have 5-6 days of furnace scorching sun, where you have to slap on factor 5000 sun cream just to open your blackout curtains in the morning. Then we have 5-6 days biblical proportion rain, I even considered building my own ark. The flowers were loving the sun blooming nicely, bumble bees bobbing too and fro now I have had to put inflatable arm bands around the branches of the upper nodes and the poor bees have taken to wearing mini life jackets…

I know, Ro, I swore I’d never complain about the weather after coming back. But alas, here I am… I guess you always complain about the weather no matter where you live… Still bet it’s nice when the sun’s shining.

Hey! The sun’s shining! Quick, quick! Take a peek before it disappears!

I’m know Deep Sea, I looked out and, Behold, there in a strange blue sky was a big yellow orb, shining down, disseminating bright light and , heat. I didn’t know what to say…
I hope it’s nice tomorrrrrrrrrowwwwwwwwwwww!

You know, in my former life I used to vacation every year in the Gaspe. Leaving a hot, sticky, smoggy, polluted Toronto summer for days in which it was frequently misty and foggy was fabulous. I know it’s not exactly summer weather, but there is something lovely about a rainy/foggy spring or summer day. I really pine for the rain when it goes too long without here. It makes me nervous.

Jacy, it sounds so delightful and romanatic, the way you describe it. I’m planning a trip to TO in a couple of weeks. Maybe I’ll come back and appreciate the fog, drizzle and grey.

Too much of any kind of weather sucks.

A trip to Toronto? A Tanya-GT-Jacy meeting is in order, no? We can see the baby!

Perfect. I’d love that.
