It's enough that people have to follow hockey closely enough to be able to interact socially  (i.e. "Did you see the game last night?" or "What about them Canucks?").  What you are suggesting is that the majority of the population now has to bone up on soccer too (i.e. "Were you able to stay awake for that game last night?").

I find that following the weather is enough of a burden (i.e."It's supposed to clear up by the end of the week").

Sorry YAM, baseball has to be the biggest sleeper of all (i.e. ZZZZZZZZZZZZZZ).</description>
