Walking on the Moon
Cats: Uncategorized|Many love them and many love them but despise the lead singer.
But I love The Police and Sting and his gargantuan ego.
And on November 8th, I will be seeing them live. In Toronto. For The Police Reunion Tour.
This is fulfilling a long-time wish. I’ve loved The Police since the first note I heard way back in ’78 or something like that.
I love the wide musical influences, punk, reggae, ska, country. I love the intelligence in their lyrics, especially in Synchronicity and Ghost in the Machine. And I love the songs. I can’t even pick a fave, although Every Little Thing She does is Magic, Roxanne, and everything on Synchronicity rank up there.
And I love Sting, either with Andy Summers and Stewart Copeland or without them, but preferably with.
Now if I could just snag a ticket for the Zeppelin concert in London. And if Pink Floyd would hit the road with their reunion tour, I would be getting close to fulfilling my life’s purpose.

So that’s why you’re coming!
I’m not into the Police, but whatever. I’m just hoping to see you again!

Actually, The Police is just my excuse. I’m really going to see you again, Espanya

There are many, many Police songs I love. Everything off the first two albums. Pretty much all of Ghost in the Machine, especially Driven To Tears and Every Little Thing She Does is Magic.
They lost me at Synchronicity however because that’s when I feel Sting’s ego grew out of control.
But regardless! You are coming to town and you can stay with me!!

Congrats on scoring tix! I saw The Police back in 1981 r 1982 (with The Go-Go’s opening), and I saw Sting once in the very early 1990s. I hear they’ve finally jelled and are putting on a great show. I look forward to your review!

Espanya, without you there is no Toronto
Jacy, I almost felt guilty about this but then remembered that Espanya and you live in Toronto. I’ll be in touch.
Beth, the tix came at a price but the flight to Toronto is airmiles so it all evens out. Plus, it’s all about seeing the bloggies and that has to be worth the price of admission. I will post a review.

Geriatric talent night in TO?
Hopefully it will be good. I do worry sometimes about these types of concerts. Am I just going to see a bunch of washed up hasbeens riding their previous popularity for some retirement cash, or perhaps a bunch of washed up hasbeens that no one has had the heart to tell them?
There are exceptions, I saw Roger Hodgson at a music fest last summer and it was A-1.
It took me a while to warm up to the Police. At first I found their lyrics to be painfully repetative. By the time I was a fan they had changed their sound / style and I didn’t like it.
Do do do da da da… X50

Not crazy about Sting so much anymore (even though I used to love him before he started going on and on about all the tantric loving he’s getting) but I would definitely go to the show if I had an extra million dollars lying around. You’ll have a great time.

Dick, considering Sting’s career post-Police, it’s a bit of a stretch to characterize him as a geriatric has been
Chelene, aren’t investment bankers from NYC rollin’ in the $$$ ?
