Christmas in the Cotswolds
Cats: beauty, photos, travels|.
A cloudy day burst into flame at the very end as the sun dropped below of line of cloud, casting orange, red and pink hues across the underside of the cloud. These shots were taken in Warwickshire in the Cotswolds, a range of hills in Central England. This is where I spent Christmas.
The colours in the sky were changing before my eyes as the sun sank to the horizon. In one shot, you can see the light shooting sideways across the top of the hedgerows and in another a puddle gives the distinct impression of a ghost.
The low light at the end of December is a photographer’s dream and in a spectacular landscape like the Cotswolds, the beauty is intensified. And to think I almost didn’t brother with the good camera and the good wide angle lens.

What a lovely Christmas evening! Who needs a tree with lights when you have that view?

Judy likes Cheddar (the cat) better than the Cotswolds

Dick thank you, but it’s really the landscape and the light. The photog just has to follow it and know when to start shooting.
Beth, absolutely glorious. I didn’t take one picture of the tree.
OMP, if Judy saw the Cotwolds that night and Cheddar who is in a bad mood due to the diet she’s now one … she might think differently

How humble. I would say knowing when to take the picture requires talent…not to mention film speed, shutter speed, and a bunch of other considerations.
Try, “I know” next time.

Dick, I bracketed so that you saw the best of several shots…. I’m no technician but maybe I can say “I know” for having an eye for beautiful moments. Mostof the time I see the moments and don’t have a camera on me.

Is Cheddar’s diet self imposed or by the Momma house boss. If by the latter, no wonder the poor beastly feline is in a bad mood.

OMP, Momma imposed and yes beastly feline in foul, but if anyone is poor, it’s not the beastly one it is momma who also happens to be a very gifted typist.

What great photos. I am an author who recently used to live in the Cotswolds and who wrote a book about it (A Place in My Country, Wiedenfeld and Nicolson, 2007 - http://www.amazon.co.uk/Place-My-Country-Search-Rural/dp/029785173X/ref=pd_bbs_sr_1/026-0589804-1215606?ie=UTF8&s=books&qid=1185280780&sr=8-1 ) I like to keep in touch with the Cotswolds and do so via blogs mostly, so thank you.
Looking at your photos I think you’d like my book.
