Surfer dudes take to waves

I live near a beach that is considered to be a surfer’s paradise. The dudes and dudettes come by the droves with their wet suits and surfer boards. Temperature is not an issue with these people.
Last Sunday was no exception. It was sunny and warm for February, and I happened to be there with a camera and a long lens. Here is one short journey of one such surfer dude.

My surfing experience can be captured almost entirely by the last photo. I went in December off the west coast of Vancouver Island. Those wet suits are warm.

I know this is dumb, but I never realized that they had surfing in Canada in February. What next? Are you going to tell me that you don’t live in igloos?

BB, you wouldn’t think but this place is a surfer’s El Dorado. Twenty years ago they used to make you swear you wouldn’t tell so the hordes wouldn’t come and ruin it.

Chance, not dumb… that’s why I posted the shots because of the incongruity of surfing in Canada in February. Yes we still live in igloos but they are centrally heated and have 42″ plasma TV screens.

Nanc, yes it was THAT beach and no we didn’t drop in for tea. Shame on us.

Holy winter! I barely left my igloo all of February – we’re off to Florida on Monday.
