What do you do with an old oil storage tank?
Cats: Canada, culture, odd things, photos, travels|Well, you convert it into a bar and grill, of course. Or at least that’s what they do here at Flippers..I’d heard of this place but didn’t really believe until I spotted it with my own eyes one day. It is located about an hour and a half’s drive from my house. Luckily I had my camera that day, otherwise no one would have believed it.
Flippers was closed on this particular day, but some day I will walk into that oil storage tank, slap down a fiver on the bar and order a beer from Flippers.
Someday.

Clearly you will need to bring $10, so that you can buy a drink for that dolphin or porpoise or whatever it is.

I saw a restaurant / bar in southern British Columbia that was fashioned from an old beehive burner, but alas i was on a mission and didn’t stop.
I like the boulders, no doubt they are covered with car paint.

I always like seeing old buildings getting reallocated for new purposes. There’s a replica water tower near me that is now a vacation property - check it out: http://www.calcoasthomes.com/wtower.html
Best of all the place is right off the beach and next door to several good, cheap restaurants. Considering how much the weekly rent is for the water tower, you would need to save $$ on food…

BB, true. When you’re out in these parts, you should always have a few extra bucks on hand to grease the palms of the locals, be they dolphins or whatever.
Dick, good think you didn’t go in, you might have got hives.
Beth, well oiled. Dang why didn’t I think of that.
Moxie, that’s cool, compact, but cool. And round.

Sorry YAM I didn’t see that. It’s on the #7 highway heading towards Sheet Harbour.
