Hooray! Hooray! I’ve updated Wordpress
Cats: Uncategorized|All by myself!
Geeks will laugh at this supposed triumph. But this stuff is not easy for a geek wannabe like me. It involves things like roots, wp-admin, php files. htaccess, wp-config. Some of these things you have to delete and some you don’t. It’s all very hard on the head and it makes you want your blankie.
Last time I attempted this without an adult or guardian present, the whole freakin’ blog went up in a puff of smoke and I had to go crawling to my excellent host Zipium to beg for help. Definitely an undignified “Waaa Waaa” moment.
There were a few fatal errors blinking back at me this time. But I ruthlessly tracked down the funny little .php files that were showing up in the warning and fatal errors. I found the little bastids in my downloaded unzipped version and then transferred them over again by FTP.
And lo! It worked.
Now I have to get familiar with the new dashboard etc. Right now I’m going to celebrate with a nice crisp glass of New Zealand Sauvignon Blanc.

Since I totally did not understand anything in that post I am terribly impressed. I do enjoy your way with words Gifted Typist.

I am very impressed.
Wordpress people seem very happy with their sites. They can make beautiful things happen on the screen. But it seems like a ton of work with constant updating and lots of stress.
Yeah, I’m a Blogger girl, even though I envy Wordpress people.

I’m in love with Blogger Beta (technically no longer “beta”), it’s fairly easy and it doesn’t eat posts…though comments still slip into the Internet ether.

Its taken me awhile to get used to the new Wordpress, but I couldn’t imagine having to do all the little sorting out on my own via a .com. Kudos to you!

toccata, since blogging back and forth with you, I now know what toccata means! So thank you.
Megan, I started on blogger and that was great. The Wordpress enterprise was a way for me to learn how websites work etc. It’s scary but I’m getting there.
BB, great title for a B horror flick. Just seeing the letters .php causes me to break out in a cold sweat.
WP, I still have a couple Blogger Beta blogs. They work well.
Allison, I was thinking about starting a .wordpress.com blog to see how they work? Do you have to do your own updating? Or is it like Blogger and it updates for you?

Congrats on the blog self help….It looks good to me, though I’m not even sure what’s different. I’m not very visual.

Chance, it’s mostly administrator panels that have changed, nothing really noticeable on the front end
