My work requires me to update my computer skilz on a regular basis.

I’ve invested in many courses, books and even had private tuition to keep me up to date on office, accounting and design software. This is great but it’s also expensive in terms of time and money especially for anyone running their own business as I do.

But Lynda.com is revolutionizing the way I learn. It’s an on-line video training library. You sign up for a month or a year and you get access to hundreds and hundreds of courses delivered in bite-sized segments. It’s one-way communication, but the tutorials break the subject matter down into logical segments and deliver them at a pace you can follow.

You can fast forward or rewind as many times as you like. And you can run a segment over and over as I do when I’m feeling particularly thick-headed.

I can take a course or part of a course day or night. With little typists, I can fit my learning curve around their schedules. And the best part is that its cheap: a $250 annual subscription for an unlimited number of courses

Today I’m taking a course called Digital Asset Management which is a fancy term for getting one’s self organized.

For sheer “bang for buck” ROI, this is the best thing I’ve stumbled on in awhile.  Anyone else have experience with this? Or any on-line learning?
