“Make your armpit your charm pit”
Cats: Uncategorized|I’m dying over here, rolling on the floor, laughing so hard it hurts.
This is an advertising slogan for a spray deodorant launched in Britain in the early 50s.
I heard it on a BBC radio documentary about copy writing through the ages.
I don’t know who authored the line or what company it represents or if it was successful.
But this is a work of art. And it is now forever seared into my memory.
So tell me, is your armpit your charm pit?

I have been called many things, but never have I been called someone with charm pits.

I have been told mine smell lovely. Charming, if you will.

I’ve often been told that my armpits are the most charming things about me. I was never sure if it was an insult or not.

Wow! I’m just glad the copywriter didn’t do toilet paper commercials

The closest thing I have to charm pits are my dimples, as they were enough to woo Flannery into marrying me 11 years ago, but since then, nothing. Just useless divots in my face when I smile, but this post made me smile a lot.

There was an old soap ad used to run on radio and (I believe) TV ads that warned of the perils of “B-O”(the voiceover man read this as if he were a fog horn). Was it Life Buoy?

Chance, thanks for the mental images…
Doc, dimples. Sweet.
Cormac, the fog-horn voice. The ad. The BO. Stop it! STOP IT!

make your armpit your charm-pit by using “Odorono”
Simply a silly commercial from my childhood which still makes me laugh.
