Smoke on the water
Cats: photos|When the air temperature gets colder than the water, it causes steam to rise.
On this morning the temperature was -17C and I had to breathe into my gloves to keep my hands from freezing as I awaited the magical moments when the sun filtered though the cloud and fog to mix some fantastic colours.
These shots were taken of the harbour about 1 km from my house. Can’t you feel the cold?

Yeah, I’m definitely feeling a chill from your photos… while I sit here in shorts and a t-shirt in Florida and remember it’s just a figurative chill

Wowwwowowowow. Those are fabulous photos. But so so cold. They make me want to wrap up in a blanket and drink something hot.
I am such a cold weather wimp.

I think I got frostbite from just looking at those photos.

BTW was there also the corresponding fire in the sky?

Beautiful shots, however the same phenomenon occurs over warm water on a cool morning, so I’m getting the feeling of the warm sun on my face on a fresh summer morning, loons glooking in the background, sitting in my canoe, beer within easy reach…just 5 more months!

Wow. What amazing photos. They remind me of my hometown.

Those are incredible photos. But yes, I am now chilled to the bone. As I age I am feeling the cold more intensely and you are not helping any, missy.

The first image is very chilling, and not only in temperature. It evokes a “Burning City in the Sky” sort of feeling… or maybe, “Hellfire in Heaven”… I’m sure there’s some kind of industry vs. nature rant somewhere in there… chilling…

Aw, hells (sic) no!

Cube, Florida, tell me what warmth is like, please?
Lisa, thanks, tell me what you’re drinking
Monkey, I got frostbite taking the shots so we’re even
Dick, I know that feeling. I need that feeling. Now

Cube, well, yes with a little help from Photoshop
Allison, it was an amazing morning
Barbara, -17C? That’s warm for you, isn’t it?
Ryan, yes, I was thinking industrial beauty. Monet’s paintings evoked the colour spectrum of sun shining through smog in 19-century London.

Cormac, ?

Excluding wind chill, I don’t think it has gotten below thirty-eight degrees Farenheit in San Francisco. Halifax is just one huge popsicle that I don’t want anything to do with until June!

Cormac, come in june and it’s a big melted popsicle with lots of fog.
