Does it count if we fell asleep?
Cats: environment|For Earth Hour last night, we shut off the all the lights and turned off the computers.
We lit the candles, put a fire on and got the blankets from the trunk downstairs.
For the first half hour we sat in soft glow of the flickering light. We looked out the window to see if anyone else was doing the same. A few were.
And then we fell asleep – three of us head-to-shoulder on the couch, one in the chair.
When we woke up it was almost 10. Earth Hour was over.
So tell me, is it really observing Earth Hour if you’re asleep?
Do you think we were cheating?

I think it counts even more so. After all, isn’t that what we are all going to be doing at that time of night when we run out of fossil fuel?

I didn’t know such a thing existed until about 10 minutes after it was over. Whoops. So you’re one up on me, asleep or not!

This doesn’t answer your question, but I just have to say that the subject of this post was not what I was expecting after reading the title. Sorry. Mind in gutter, etc.

BB, I’m battling every day with the very real possibility that Peak oil is the real economic nightmare, not the recession so maybe being in the dark is good training
Jenna, hey, long time no see. Good that you found out at least
Lori
hahahahahahaha.
Mind in gutter indeed

What else could you all have done, hold your breath to save on the CO2 emmissions?

I too slept through earth hour, but according to my wife there was no shortage of greenhouse gas emissions.

I totally forgot about Earth Hour. I was at the store with my mom buying popcorn and no-name orange soda.
But I recycled the empty bottle!

I wasn’t sure when it was taking place on the West coast. At 5pm I was driving, but later on in the evening we went for a walk and weren’t using any energy.
That year I was in TO for it, and it was cool to see all the buildings turn off their lights.

Cube, believe it or not I do that in the pool for lung-buster sets.
Dick, sweet, as always
Racquel, maybe you had Earth Minute.
Allison, there are some great pictures of that

We weren’t asleep … we were just spying on the litle typists. They are aliens … they eat live mice … and speak a clipped rap-like language and laugh at us!!
