Monsters vs Aliens = don’t go
Cats: culture|Don’t let anyone tell you that it’s cute or funny.
Don’t be lulled into going to this flick because you liked Monsters Inc.
Don’t drag your family to this see this badly-made flick.
I’m telling you this because I did all these things on Easter Sunday.
And I regretted seeing Monsters vs Aliens almost from the word go.
The animation is good, but the storyline and direction is terrible.
It is confused, weak and lacking in continuity.
Characters are underdeveloped with several thrown in for no apparent reason. The sound track is too loud and cluttered with way too much of that base-tone-enhanced bang-bang-crash-boom.
There were a few OK gags but they were pretty thin on the ground. There was little laughter in the cinema.
I was bored to tears. My kids were bored.
And what was worse, my mid-flick snooze was interrupted by the loud bang-bang. Ach!
Movies like this are highway robbery because they trade on sentimentality and titles similar to other successful movies to reel you in.
This was junk, a waste of money and time.
Do not – I repeat – do not see Monsters vs. Aliens.

“There was little laughter in the cinema.”
That is one of the saddest lines I have ever read.

We saw it last week, too. Blah. And there was an upcharge for the 3D, after which we were asked to deposit our 3D glasses in a box for re-use. Ha! We kept them just for spite. My 4 year old liked it, but my 7 year old was bored.

Well thank God you saved me from this one. Although I would never see a movie like this in the first place, at least now I have one good reason not to let PG rent it!

Thanks for the warning. The kids have been nagging to see it and now I won’t feel so guilty about saying no.

Adventureland was a good choice while the kids saw MvA- and Observe and Report was sublime- another triumph for Anna Ferris

There was laughter in the theater….Mine. This was a great spoof of all the great scary monster movies from the fifties and sixties. Great animation, lots of back channel references and background details. My seven year old thought it was great but did ask a lot of questions that have me heading to the B-movie section to find Godzilla (with Mothra), Creature from the Black Lagoon, The Fly, and several others to view for reference. I assume from the “Gifted” typists comments that she/he is to young to have been exposed the Greats of Bad Cinema. This was a fun movie that you could take a 5 y.o. and older to see with out having to worry about it being to intense.

Splotchy, it was sort of sad, really.
Cdp, might have had more appeal with the 3D
Lori, save yourself and your money
Tagbagger, too bad I didn’t have these insights before I went
Sam, yes, we also spotted references tol Wizard of Oz (which I wouldn’t call B-movie calibre) and Close Encounters of a Third Kind … but they were lame, and ineffective, like the rest of the movie.
But I am glad you laughed … at least someone did

I am going to rush right out to not see this!

I have to watch it, even if only for the computer animation. However, I trust you so I’ll wait for it to come on the TV.
