Bluenose Marathon: drizzle, guts and determination
Cats: photos|Breaking news: the 10-year old typist placed 58th in over 1000 runners most of whom were adults.
Usually it rains for the Bluenose Marathon held every year on this weekend.
This year we were lucky: it only drizzled.
A couple of the typists ran the 5K. I was official photographer.
And let me tell you: L-series lenses talk.
Using my “I’m supposed to be here” ‘tude and making sure they saw the 70-200 L-series with it’s black and white stripes and it’s red ring on the outside, I managed to get inside the media-only zone to get my up close shots as the runners were finishing.

Actually it was a great day weather wise for the runners I think. They do get crappy weather just as the Greek Fest always seems to get great weather:) I love your feet shot.

Congrats to mini typist! Wow that’s a great run!! I don’t know how I missed that on the first read here.
Yes, I know, Alice? Shelagh?, there’s a story.

congrats to your typists!! I think you may have a great photo of my foot in your first shot!

Nice shots. One of my brothers placed 322/147 in his age category. Not bad considering that he comes from a fairly clumsy family!
May 18th, 2009 at 10:48 am
That should read 32/147!

Nice job, young typist!
I’ll bet those hamstrings aren’t as stiff as mine after cleaning out all the perennial beds.

WAH
I am SO jealous.

Shelagh, thanks, would love to hear the story of Shelagh Alice someday – maybe at next tweet up?
YAM, were you there, what did you run? How did you do?
HnP, not bad indeed
barbara, thanks (glowing mother typist here) – there were some complaints of sort calves this morning
Deepti – yup – na na na naaaaaa na
May 18th, 2009 at 7:59 pm

Yep, I was there. Ran the 5k and all things considered I was very happy with my time. I’ve been working hard at this (it’s damn hard work!) and have slowly been chipping away seconds (sometimes minutes). Back in 2005 I ran the 10k in “that storm” that closed the run to the bridges, etc. and had to be re-routed. Yesterday was way more fun and the weather was perfect! What a well organized event and so much fun! I just wish the chip time was the “official” time.
A running friend of mine told us that a good soak in the tub with epsom salts will help sore muscles. Hope little typist’s calves are feeling better soon. Awesome Job!!

YAM, well done to you. It is hard work. I wouldn’t have dared run it, not having trained.I think the weather was good for running yesterday, better than today.
The older typist who did no training whatsoever came in 192nd, a testament to something, not sure what though

Congratulations to your little typist!!!! That’s quite an accomplishment.

Congrats, 58th is really something to proud of and is positively Kenyanesque.

Way to go little typists. Running is an under appreciated yet extremely effective self preservation technique. I should work on that as, for now, my only option for self preservation is to maim.

It should be noted that the other typist ran the 5K on his 47th birthday with no preparation other than a healthy addiction to squash. The finish was ugly and he is greateful I believe that GT decided not to include pics in post!!

Lisa, thanks (mother blogger beaming)
Cormac, Kenyanesque, beautiful. Thanks. (more beaming)
Dick, the little little typist reigned and the other one was the 47-year old who came 192nd but and wasn’t exactly beaming as he finished, although he didn;t train and wasn’t even sure if he had running shoes – I think he did ok.

Oops, TT, posted at same time, and yes pix of you were censored for those reasons
May 19th, 2009 at 1:35 pm
You of course mean pics of the other typist (time for an identity change again!)

TT, of course
