GT’s a one-hit wonder
Cats: Uncategorized, blogs|Thanks to the famous woman with the seeing, hearing and speaking challenges and one of the lead singers of that famous Brit band of mop tops from 1960s, GT has been invaded with hits.
They’re actually more like hit-n-runs, hundreds of them. The other day I had almost 1000 hits. They’re coming from people googling a lyric mentioned. I dare not repeat it here, ‘lest google indexes them and I get more hits.
This is not good. I own this blog (ie, it is n not a Blogspot which is owned by Google). This means I have to pay for my bandwidth. Because of the purdy image-based designs, each hit eats up bandwidth.
I’ve removed the posts with the lyric involving the woman with the hearing, seeing and speaking challenges. And I’ve applied to Google for de-indexing. I should hear back from them in a few days.
Hopefully that will reduce my traffic.
In the meantime, I’m in the market for a new host who will give me more bandwidth for less cost.

A thousand hits??? And to think that I get mad at the eight to a dozen people a day that hit my site up for the A*y Ad**s pic that I have up. One thousand hits and I’d be wound up like Harper when a baby seal escapes the initial slaughter.

How interesting. I had no idea. I know very little about blogcasting really. I thought people wanted hits:)
Always learning.

Oh you celebrities! You spend years trying to get noticed and then a few people stick a camera into your face and all of a sudden all you really want to do is direct.

Who knew? I’m strictly an amateur Blogspot blogger, so I had no idea that an innocent reference to a lyric could cause you so much trouble.

My Lady GaGa vs. Katy Perry post continues to be the most popular, with most of the searches being for “lady GaGa smells”.
I can’t complain.

it’s no where near 1000, but i get at least half a dozen hits each day from people googling that annoying “the box says, shut up steve” cheerios commercial … i wrote a post about it a year and a half ago, and i have a ridiculous number of comments on it (for my little blog), the most recent posted just yesterday!

Cormac, I’d love it if they were all Cormacs, but alas no
Shelagh, I love the fact that Google doesn’t own my words, but ownership has its responsibilities and costs, and this is one
Barbara, nano-celebrity to you!
Cdp, I’ve chopped it out now, but the lyric wasn’t so innocent
Raquel, I daren’t mention the Lady G
Michelle, hey, nice to see you here. It’s amazing how the footprint of your words remain. I’m still awaiting word from google on my de-indexing request. Once that happens I should be good, but sometimes they deny you.

Oh crap. That’s no fun.
Sydney Brooke Simpson has provided me with my second highest amount of hits even years after the fact. They keep coming from all over the world.
The highest number of hits in one day came from
a post entitled Ismail Ax about the V Tech shooting.
They were coming in faster than I could process them.
Go figure.

You could set WordPress to block search engines. I host from my home computer, and I don’t want Google and the rest of them leading random people to me for no reason, so I blocked them. I don’t know if such a block becomes retroactive, of course.

Cube, sometimes you get on that front page of the google search. These hits aren’t your friends.
Ryan, apparently I was attacked and the event too out the server. Investigations are on-going

Yipes! Attacked, huh… could it be some political conspiracy…

With all those hits you should start advertising for additional revenue!
With respect to your handwidth I would encourage you to forget about it. You have nice hands.

Ryan, It came from Luxembourg so you really have to wonder
Dick, handwidth, hahaahahaha, me being a typist and all.
I fixed it. Thanx. Good eye

Funny, I was hearing a new song at the gym, and it was so good I stopped working out to listen to it. Imagine my surprise when the deaf dumb and blind girl was mentioned. LOL – it was GT’s song – which I actually really like – good lyrics (and even the use of “ho” is relatively warranted) As they said on American Bandstand – “it’s got a good beat, you can dance to it”

TagBagger, funny thing is that i like the tune as well, can’t get it out of my head, and went around for dayz singing it: ditto If you seek Amy, disco stick, crack a bottle. Most of the time I don’t even hear the lyrics and my guess is that most people don’t so who cares really …As long as we’re allowed to express an opinion one way or another – to me that’s what really matters
