When GT met the Sidney Crosby of organizing
Cats: Uncategorized|Organizing doesn’t come naturally to me.
Dunno what it is about me, but I can just walk into a neat room and make it messy – without even trying.
I do occasionally mount an assault on the mess, but it just comes back again. So I’ve learned to embrace it.
I am slob, hear me roar.
This is fine except for one thing: I can never find anything. And when you have four slobs living under one roof, well, let’s just say the chaos becomes the enemy.
So I hired in Jane the Organizer for a bit of tough love.
This woman can stick-handle and score big with getting slobs like me to conform to systems, baskets and labels.
There’s more in the column, but I will say that our time together was productive and traumatizing – to me.

I’m a slob in my car, but neat everywhere else. My husband complains about my car all the time, and I submit to him that if he feels that it needs to be cleaner, then he should by all means clean it. And he does, so it all works out.

I like the organised chaos. The shelves and baskets I have always end up getting mixed up. Whenever I do clean, I can never find anything.

Since I’m soon to be moving, I’m aspiring that my new place will begin organized and stay that way. This ambition, however admirable, will collapse as soon as I realize it’s much simpler to pile everything on the kitchen table as usual. Sigh. I wonder if there support groups for the tidy-challenged…

Being organized and being tidy are totally different things. My partner has a need to be tidy but not necessarily organized, whereas I tend to be untidy but organized.
Unfortunately I can’t find stuff after she tidies!
Hmmm, “tidies” doesn’t look like a word to me. I have man tidies.
Sorry. Carry on.

Cdp, sounds like a forumula that works
Ryan, moving is a perfect way to organize
Dick, too funny, I guess that makes you a perfect match. Tidies is a funny word, sound too much like panties

I think I must have accidentally ended up with one of your children. There must have been some kind of mixup at the hospital. Would you like her back?

I love organizing other people’s crap. It’s easier than my own.
Another thing that makes organizing and tidying up easier is to have a place for everything. You can’t organize a front entrance if you don’t have coathooks for coats, drawers for a purse and keys, shelves for the shoes…
I try hard to make sure there is a home for all my stuff, especially as I live with someone who is fanatically tidy and organized.
(Tanya hanging her head in shame because she can’t keep up….)

Barbara, do you think, oh dear, we must get together and sort this out… immediately … over beer and good music!
Espanya, I’m with ya, why didn’t you organize my stuff when you were visiting?
