Why I like Don Cherry
Cats: Canada|I disagree with his stance on fighting in hockey. I’m against it.
I disagree with his occasional racial slurs. They are stupid.
He dresses in suits that look like they were made from the leftover material from his grandmother’s curtains.
He’s loud, impolite and he points.
But he is a character. He’s a proud Canadian and a very unCanadian Canadian.
He defies the stereotype of quiet, mannerly and polite.
Canada needs more characters.
That’s why I like Don Cherry.
Here is my column on this subject.

With a name like Don Cherry, he deserves to be in the news!
Does he have a daughter named Dented?
A son named Black?
Is his wife Very?
Sure, Canadians have often been painted with a broad brush but if “quiet, mannerly and polite” is the worst things that are attached to one of the greatist countries of the world, you are doing pretty good.
Thank your lucky stars you aren’t an American. We get “ugly, uncouthe, and bombastic” and those are the nice ones.
Cheers,
Doc

You have Seth Rogen. He’s not enough of a character for you?
Now I’m wondering if I have the wrong info. He IS Canadian, right?

You are so right – Don Cherry really is unscripted. And much as he drives me nuts, he is definitely refreshing.
