Which GT theme are you using?

Uncategorized, blogs, odd things| 18 Comments »

A couple of weeks ago, GT went through a bit of a make-over. Some might have said an identity crisis.
At the end of the day, I installed a theme-switcher to allow you to choose which look you like. The themes appear at the top of the page in the sidebar, either on the left or […]

Just for fun on a Friday

This theme is Working Girl.
It could also be called Working Typist.
I have to admit that it does represent a certain typist of your acquaintance crunched over sitting up straight at a keyboard all day long. (Only my desk is not so neat).
A certain 11-year old daughter has been over my shoulder this week offering unvarnished […]

Food for thought

Update: Yup, you’re right about the comments. I’ve darkened them and made them larger. Check it out. I’ve also increased the size of the font in the posts. This theme isn’t widgetized, meaning I have to go into the code to make changes in the sidebars.
This “What Not To Wear” blog styling exercise will not […]

And now, for something completely different

This one is called McMac. It’s a Wordpress theme designed by the very talented Milo, who designed the “Summer” theme I had up on Monday.
The messiness could be distracting, but I must say, it does represent the state of my desk on most days. You find the strangest things on my desk, and my office […]

Welcome to Summer (theme)

blogs| 13 Comments »

So. I’ve heard you. Yesterday’s theme wasn’t doing it for you.
You said no personality. Corporate. Boring. Blah.
I wonder what Simon and Paula would have said.
So, here’s Monday’s theme. It’s call Summer. And appropriately it’s sunny outside my window this morning.
I’ve flirted with this one before. I’m going to make a few small changes to the […]

Does this theme make GT’s bum look fat?

Update: I’ve been playing around with the CSS code and have done the following

put colour in the header
changed font from stark arial to a more laid-back verdana
reduced most of header fonts to lower case (because I don’t like to yell)
reduced the size of the fonts

I have a graphic of an old fashioned typewriter for the […]

That if you get your snow tires taken off on April 23rd, there will be snow in the forecast on April 24th.
Sorry I forget the physics genius who worked out the Law of Springtime Road Rubber Change and Frozen Precipitation.
But I do know that it is a cause-and-effect action.
Change tires = snow.
I awoke this morning […]

I’m back and tending to NBL

blogs| 9 Comments »

Just getting caught up with my Non-Blog Life (NBL). You know: work, laundry, cat surgery.
She’s in theatre as I write. She’s having three rotten teeth out. It’s a good thing we took the holiday before this bill comes in. It’s going to be a whopper. I’ll blog later this week on the morality of […]

Update: got the bling back
Did an update on my Wordpress yesterday, but I seem to have lost some of the bling in the sidebars. Most importantly, my blogroll.
I’m working on this and will have everything restored ASAP

Little book retired

blogs, words| 11 Comments »

Another little book has reached its last page.
I carry these leather-bound notebooks around everywhere to record mental ephemera of every description.
My little book contains grocery lists, movie recommendations, phone numbers, notes taken from interesting radio documentaries, jokes told to me, music recommendations, books I should (but probably won’t) read, strange thoughts, profound thoughts of […]

7 things you didn’t know about GT

Uncategorized, blogs, odd things| 18 Comments »

I’ve been tagged by musicologist Beth of Atlanta for this 7-things-you-didn’t-know meme. I’m usually hesitant about revealing too much personal information. These 7 facts will explain why:
1. I had a stalker for 3 years.
2. He had a mental illness and became delusional about moi.
3. Two years ago, he came to my neighbourhood looking for me. […]

Axe murderers are like old friends

blogs| 13 Comments »

When this typist first met fellow bloggers Jacy and Tanya Espanya, a little voice whispered in her ear: “Are you nuts?” it said. “You’ve never met these people in person. They could be axe murderers.” That was back in June. As it turned out, the visit was wonderful. No axes appeared.
The same was true last […]

iframes, pop-ups and GT

blogs| 3 Comments »

After a couple of reports about weird pop-ups showing up on GT, we began an investigation in conjunction with host Zipium, the folks at Stopbadware.org and Google.
Last night we discovered a file called an iframe on this site. An iframe isn’t necessarily a bad thing. It allows you to include another website in your own […]

Only three more sleeps…

… until GT hightails ‘er up to Toronto to see The Police live in concert on Thursday. Reviews have been great and a weekend in Toronto is always divine.
And almost as exciting as The Police concert is the “Early Typewriters” exhibition at the Royal Ontario Museum (ROM). For any typist, this would be a must-do […]
